America and The War On Terror

The following may be considered controversial to some, but keep in mind this is my own opinion. Also keep in mind I am by no means a violent person and I hate war. Okay here it goes...

There are few things that sadden and enrage me more than the way some people have handled the fight against terrorists. There are countless examples that I could point out, but a recent one is the prosecution of 3 Navy SEALs over the busted lip of a captured terrorist.

This is no ordinary terrorist, mind you. This terrorist in particular plotted the murder and mutilation of four Blackwater USA guards in Fallujah in 2004. These 3 SEALs captured him and then gave him "a few things to think about" before sending him to prison. Now these soldiers are in danger of facing criminal charges for hitting an unarmed prisoner.

Maybe what they did was wrong, but should we instead have our troops take these people by the hand and give them the royal treatment? May it never be. I for one do not want a bunch of nurturing and compassionate people defending our country. There is a time and a place for being compassionate, but the battlefield is not one of them. And with the type of enemy we are facing, compassion is almost out of the question. The terrorists America faces have absolutely no regard for human life, and as we can tell, will use America's own laws and regulations to their advantage.

I pay my tax dollars to the military for one purpose: to defend our country. How they get the job done is up to them (as long as they don't attack innocents), but I'll be damned if I just sit back and watch my fellow Americans condemn them for doing their job. And in my opinion, they're doing a hell of a job, because we're winning (we're pulling all of our troops out of Iraq soon... I believe that's called victory).

So what does this have to do with health and wellness? I believe that loving your country is a crucial aspect to a healthy life. Whether you are for or against the war, we all should be striving towards greater morality, unity and safety for our country. Some do this through blogging, rallying, or simply voting. But we must all take pride in America and fight to make her the best she can possibly be.

God bless our military troops, and may they do their job quickly and efficiently so they can come home.

P.S. If I captured a terrorist and he started mouthing off to me about killing Americans, I don't think a couple of well-placed punches are a bad idea

  1. Briz i did not realize that you felt so strong about our military. Good for you...im glad you understand funding our military is brutally important and underminding their ability totally socialistic.
